Min, I was simply asking because it wasn't clear... but I would still suggest that you being a good husband has nothing to do with you going with her if she hasn't asked you to.
There's a fine line between paternalism and support... just sayin', is all. She's perfectly capable of handling it on her own - so why would you be going? To make her feel better? Or to avoid a discussion you don't want to have? Whatever the reason is is fine... but you probably want to be clear on it first.

well is it wrong to go out and plan on getting drunk,,,,,,tipsy,,,,,,,,,,,mellow,,,,,,,,,or "merry in heart" as the bible puts it??????
i know that some people have addiction problems with alcohol and i dont mean to offend anyone,,,,,but there are alot of folks who on a weekend here and there, drink and just let loose.
i , for one know that if you have a problem with alcohol this is a totally different subject .

sajwxe, that would be accurate if we knew that physics accurately describes life. Since we do not know that... we're not sure. There is certainly an opportunity for reality to demonstrate entropy in the physical realm and increasing order in the biological realm.
Have you read Tipler's The Omega Point? I think it's entertaining and instructive (but not the last word, so to speak).

It's not nearly as important (especially over time) as we often make it.
Proud? Yeah, the best decision I ever made was leaving religion behind. But to wear it on my shoulder is to live in the past...I'd rather be proud of what I'm doing now!

Exactly, doc. That's one of the reasons that we have cancer - not just due to longer life spans... but cancer (most types, anyway) typically strikes us after we are old enough to have rasied our kids to be self-sufficient - so natural selection is done with us.

I tend, with pretty theory but no proof, towards some woo-woo. I used to go straight pool-ball... but now I don't, quite.
Given that, if one were to take the woo-woo theory to its conclusion, one would see a human population which progresses in its social and emotional relationships in an evolutionary fashion... but not using the laws of evolution described by biologists (as this would only be an analogy). It depends on if you see evolution as a biological process or as an example of other universal forces that result in progress in biology and other areas (no, I am not referring to an angry old man in a white robe, so don't even go there).
That's why I suggested Wilber's book. I also am influenced by Pirsig's discussion of quality, and Watt's discussions of the cosmos are fascinating.

On June 21, 2000, the World Health Organization released the World Health Report ? Health Systems: Improving Performance, which is accessible at http://www.who.int/whr/ (World Health Report). The World Health Report ranked the U.S. 37th out of 191 countries. According to the World Health Report, the objective of a health care system is to be both good and fair. Thus, a health care system should strive to achieve the highest possible average level of health with the fewest disparities among individuals and groups. Americans must face the fact the U.S. health system is not good and fair as so defined. According to the World Health Report, of the 191 countries in the study, the U.S. spent the highest percentage (13.7%) of its Gross Domestic Product on health care but still managed only to achieve an overall ranking of 37. The World Health Report also found that private (non-governmental) health expenses as a percentage of total health expenses in most industrialized countries average only 25% because most have universal health coverage. In the U.S., however, private (non-governmental) health expenditure runs 55.9%.
How can anyone say that a country with health care/status that ranks 37th of 191 and 12th of 13 truly has the best health care in the world?
